Therapy and Motivation
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ( CBT )
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is based on two ideas:
- a) We act
- b) We can change our behaviour
The essence of CBT is to use our ability to think, imagine and understand as a means of substituting the thoughts and ideas we have that might be negative and impair our enjoyment and our ability to perform routine tasks of everyday life with thoughts that enhance our enjoyment and performance. In one sense this is akin to performing to a new script, a script that we understand and are convinced as being right through a process of internal logical discussion.
Applied to the workplace, CBT can be used to improve the behaviour of managers towards their staff, and help employees and managers cope with the consequences of adverse and return to a normal level of working life.
Cognitive behaviour coaching ( CBC )
Cognitive behaviour coaching is based on the same ideas. Coaching is where an individual or group is led through a series of steps towards achieving a goal. Cognitive coaching is where the coach helps individuals and groups substitute negative thinking with positive thoughts. A coach then leads the group or individuals towards an agreed goal.
Managers and employees benefit from cognitive coaching in situations where their attitudes towards working with others is impairing performance, and leading to under or counter-productivity.
Our Services
We use CBT in helping individuals and groups cope with adverse events at work. We provide training for individuals to apply the principles of CBT to themselves without the need for a therapist.
We, also, provide Cognitive Coaching to individual managers and teams where there is under performance due to the inappropriate behaviour and attitudes between managers and employees.
