Joan Baxter
B.Sc. Hons; M.Sc.; PG Dip; C.Psychol.; AFBPsS.
Joan Baxter has been a chartered psychologist for over twenty years. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a full member of the divisions of educational and child psychology and occupational psychology. She is a founder member of the special group in coaching psychology. Joan has a postgraduate qualification in psychoanalytic organisational consultancy and she has a particular interest in the emotional health of organisations.
Joan worked as a psychologist in the public sector for many years including as a senior manager of specialist services. She has also worked in senior roles in the voluntary sector, latterly as vice chair of trustees of a national mental health charity.
As a senior performance specialist with the Audit Commission, Joan has conducted reviews and inspections across a wide range of functions in the public sector, including corporate assessments of local authorities. She has been a regional lead for equalities and diversity and a national lead for policy on children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. Joan is a trained mediator, a mentor, a very experienced trainer and facilitator and a regular presenter at conferences and seminars. She has been a visiting lecturer at University College London's Psychology Department for the past five years.
Joan is Director of Arreede Ltd., a small consultancy with a focus on improvement through consulting, coaching and training primarily in the public and not for profit sectors.
