Fiona Thornewill
MBE
Explorer and Motivational Speaker

Motivational Speaking

Fiona speaks to many organisations facing challenges with various aspects of their business. She majors in showing them how to breakdown and remove barriers, allowing their businesses to thrive.
  • She overcame failure
  • She overcame tragedy
  • She overcame fear
  • With her partner, they raised $½m sponsorship - cold calling
  • She broke world records
Fiona practices what she preaches!

If you are looking for an inspirational speaker – someone that your audience relates to - look no further! Fiona comes from  an unremarkable background - overcame huge challenges - broke numerous records - is living proof that we can all succeed!

Passionately, Fiona describes how a unique business-plan took her to the ends of the earth - making news headlines around the world with the picture of her and her husband renewing wedding vows at the Pole made front pages everywhere.

Travelling initially with her husband Mike, they persisted through a sea of negativity - to overcome horrendous difficulties - including frostbite, crevasses, tent-flattening storms - and a desperate sea crossing on an ice-boat. They faced their fear and did it anyway.

Later, Fiona dubbed by the press ‘The Ice Queen’, went a step further - becoming the fastest person ever to walk the 700 miles to the South Pole. This time she trekked bravely alone and without support. Fiona overcame many perils - beginning when her radio failed - to finding herself lost in a crevasse field - in bone chilling temperatures of –60C …with two stoves refusing to work any longer…

Success - Fiona's words:

This time, there was no voice saying: "Fiona you can do more." Overhead, the sun blazed through a cobalt sky 'peppered' with flecks of silver spindrift. Behind me, a white horizon extended without boundary to a remote inlet 700 miles away. Then the tears came - like those of a child. And I saw vividly then, the faces of people I loved - and whose love - had pulled me on every step of the way. Of Bill, my friends, my family and my beloved husband - without whose belief in me - I wouldnít be there. My emotions were so rich: Relief, pride, utter contentment and a sense of achievement - fully proportional to what Iíd overcome.

I was deeply, deeply, happy- and that's how success feelsÖ
